Parents Sponsorship

The results for 2021 started being released via email on September 24, 2021.

IRCC announced that it will issue 30,000 invitations via email starting on September 24, 2021, over a two-week period, to individuals who entered the lottery draw in 2020. It appears that no new draw entries will be accepted in 2021, and only those who entered the draw in 2020 will be invited. IRCC will utilize all the entries collected in 2020 to issue invitations to apply in September 2021.

Individuals wishing to enter the draw for the first time will have to wait until 2022, likely around January or February.

Once an invitation is issued, individuals will have 60 days to submit a complete application to IRCC. It is crucial to submit a complete application; otherwise, it will not be accepted and will be returned after four months. Applicants who miss the 60-day deadline for submitting a complete application will lose their chance to sponsor based on the issued invitation. They will need to re-enter the draw in the following year and hope to receive another invitation to sponsor.

At Alps Immigration 2024, we are committed to guiding you through the entire process, ensuring that your application is complete and submitted on time for a successful sponsorship experience.

IRCC has also announced that the application submission process will transition from a paper-based system to an electronic, online submission. All Permanent Residency (PR) applications will now be submitted electronically to IRCC.

*IRCC has introduced a temporary public policy change regarding the income requirement for 2020. Instead of the usual LICO + 30%, the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) requirement for 2020 is set at just the LICO amount (without the 30% gross-up). This adjustment acknowledges the financial challenges many individuals faced due to COVID-19, including business closures and layoffs. For the 2020 income calculation, IRCC will also allow Employment Insurance (EI) benefits to be included as part of an individual’s income.

At Alps Immigration 2024, we are here to help you navigate these changes and ensure your application meets the updated requirements.

To be eligible to sponsor:

Sponsors must provide three Notices of Assessment (NOAs) from the CRA to IRCC to demonstrate they meet the minimum necessary income (MNI) requirement for Parental PR sponsorship.

If you do not qualify for Parental PR due to not meeting the MNI over three years, you can opt for a Super Visa. The income requirement for a Super Visa is based on just one year and is approximately 30% lower. For more details, contact AKPS Immigration.
